As we were planning the awards banquet for the 2012 racing season, we noticed that almost all of the riders (with the exception of 5 riders) qualified for both the D5 banquet and Latrobe Speedway’s 2012 Arena Cross banquet. We spoke with George at Latrobe Speedway and asked if he would mind if we combined the banquets, since almost all of the riders would be attending both banquets. We felt that this would save the riders money, since they would only have to pay one banquet fee for their family and it would save District 5 the expense of renting a banquet hall and paying for catering – money saved that could then be spent towards rider awards and prizes. George felt that would be fine and we all thought that the riders would appreciate that too.
When you attend the combined banquet, you will receive your District 5 awards and your Latrobe Speedway awards separately. There will be prizes and giveaways and lots of fun…and you get to swim at the Holiday Inn indoor pool too.
We hope that the combined banquet will be helpful to you in planning for expenses, especially around the holidays --- we just hated to see the District pay for the banquet hall expense needlessly. Hope to see you at the Holiday Inn in Uniontown, PA on Saturday, January 26th, 2013.
On the heels of announcing AMSOIL as the new title sponsor and the upcoming 2013 schedule, Feld Motor Sports® is revealing a variety of unique and exciting format changes that will make AMSOIL Arenacross more unpredictable than ever. Tickets for all AMSOIL Arenacross events will go on sale to the public Friday, November 16.
Beginning with the 2013 season an entirely new championship points structure will be introduced. Deviating from the traditional points system, AMSOIL Arenacross competitors in all classes will now compete on a single point system. Championship points will be awarded in one-point increments with a Main Event winner earning 16 points and reducing per position through the remainder of the field.
Another exciting and non-traditional format change will be the introduction of two 12-lap Main Events, each paying separate championship points. Gate selection for Main Event 1 will be determined by a riders’ Heat Race results. For Main Event 2, gate selection will be based off the finishing order from the first Main Event, but also presents a unique and exciting twist. A random drawing following the first main Event will determine whether zero, eight, or 16 competitors will invert their gate selections. For more information, click HERE.
